If It's True that We're Broken...

If it's true that we're broken, that there's a fundamental flaw in humanity, I guess we could blame God for it - like a whole line of cars with recall orders on them. Or he made us right, but we broke ourselves. Take your pick.

My experience with God, based on the rest of the universe, is that he doesn't mess up when he makes something. Whatever doesn't work right looks more like it's infected from something outside, like cancers and plant blights. Sure, you could say that God made cancers and plant blights too, but there's maybe a better explaination.

Which is? Simply that, in the midst of a perfect creation, one creature decided to go for something better than perfection. One creature decided to be God.

If it's true we're broken, then it's also true that we can't fix ourselves, or we would have done so already. This means we probably have to go back to the one who made us. If he can't fix us, or won't, we're done. The good news? He can, and he wants to.
